Tlacuilo - Polaris

The resplendent quetzal is the most precious of beauties in the Mesoamerican world, much like the sacred occupation of a Tlacuilo who honored the spirit of the times with renditions of customs, traditions and stories of their people.
Using paper made from maguey fibers or fig-tree bark and natural pigments, the tlacuilolli, or codices, are still taught, studied and spiritually materialized by the modern world. Collaborating with elders and nobles to depict history using symbolic imagery, the role of the artist was one of the most important professions in preserving history for future generations to manifest.
